My name is John Bali and I’m a freelance photographer from Half Moon Bay California. I grew up playing football and baseball, but only continued football through my high school years. Photography is not my full time job, I’m actually a journeyman electrician for IBEW 617.

I started photography because my friend Rico was playing basketball in Mexico and he was coming off an injury and I thought about how cool it would be to just document workouts to get back into playing shape. I had no idea what the hell I was doing but it sparked my love for sports but in a new way.

Over this time I’ve gotten the pleasure to document some amazing high school, college, and pro athletes around the Bay Area. I’ve also been fortunate enough to take photos for friends clothing brands, graduation photos, and also my own travel photos when I go on vacations with my girlfriend Char.

My goal is to one day make photography a full-time job. Being from the Bay Area I understand the importance of sports, fashion, and art in general. I understand the importance of photography and capturing things in the moment so that they live forever. I hope to keep growing my portfolio and working with people who appreciate the work it takes to make a photo go from good to great.
